Kids say the cutest things…Yesterday, Melanie was getting situated in her car seat and the sun was low in the western sky. It was shinning right in her eyes, and she says “Moon, you’re so sunny!” I guess since the sun has been hiding most of the winter that she would think it was the moon she was seeing! Her fascination with the sun, moon and stars is really neat. Most nights she asks to see the moon and on our most recent outing for icecream, the moon was rising, one of those gorgeous full winter moons, the sky was clear and she asked Jason the following question “Daddy can you reach the moon for me? I can’t reach it.” Why is it that little girls think their Daddy’s hung the moon?! Then once we arrived at home and the car stopped – she reported that the moon stopped moving. I used to love watching the moon as a child too. I can remember watching the moon follow us in the car and wondering how is it that at one moment the moon can be in the eastern sky and you change your direction and it looks like the moon is now in the southern sky. Or how fast it seems the moon is moving when you’re riding in a car. One day soon we will have the pleasure of teaching Melanie about our wonderful solar system and how it all works. I was shocked to think the other day that Melanie is ½ way to Kindergarten!!
