Ok, so this is what they used to do to harvest nuts off of trees before mechanical harvesters. You would take a long bamboo pole and knock the nuts off the tree. Well, Jason and Melanie "pole'ed" our walnut tree in the front yard yesterday. It was a nice warm sunny day and Melanie wanted to get out and play, so Jason and her did some yard work. Melanie had a blast throwing walnuts out into the street and hearing them smack on the concret. Poor Jason had to rake them all up. Jason thought that it was pretty cool that she enjoyed that. I am sure it was a reminder to her of skipping rocks at the lake with her Daddy and Uncle Dave this past summer.
PS - all you english majors out there can tell me how to spell pole'ing...is it polling?
