A few weeks ago, Melanie and I were in the cereal aisle of Target and Melanie asks me "Mommy, can I get my favorite cereal?" She then heads over to the Raisin Bran and puts it in the cart. She then asks me "Mommy, can I get my other favorite cereal?" So, by now we have attracted the looks of other cereal shoppers in the aisle and one shopper in particular has her mouth opened wide in astonishment as my daughter puts into the cart Frosted Mini Wheats! Yep, that is her other favorite cereal. Melanie then asks me, what Fruity Pebbles is because by now the colorful boxes are starting to attract her attention (basic cereal marketing at work - colorful boxes at a child's eye level) and I tell her it is like fruit flavored Rice Krispies...she then says "OH, no thats sweet and I don't like sweet!" Yep, that's true too, she doesn't like most things that are sweet, but she does LOVE Cheetos!
So, now this astonished shopper in the aisle is really flabergasted and I am so proud that my little girl likes grown-up cereal!
Another side note - Melanie has to have all the frosted sides facing up in her bowl to eat them - silly girl.
