Trick or Treat

My poor little wee one.  Sick for Halloween!  Melanie came down with fever of 102.4 on Tuesday with a croupy cough that pretty much lasted until Sunday.  She is still coughing with runny nose today.  So, she missed her Harvest Party at School, the Costume Tea Party at Dance and the Neighborhood Costume Parade on Saturday.  We did manage to carve pumpkins, Melanie said it was too slimy to help me, so I carved both pumpkins.  She woke up after the parade was over, so we took some bread and headed out to Hart Park to feed the ducks.  That was amazing – the ducks came from all over the lake to eat the bread, some were so aggressive and leaped out of the water to grab the bread in mid-air!  Then we came home and dressed up in her Cinderella costume for a visit to a couple houses in the neighborhood.  Melanie was pretty uncertain about going door to door, so we came home and let her hand out candy to all the kids.  Now, that part she really enjoyed!  She wasn’t too sure about scary masks, but once the boy took off his mask and showed her who he really was, she was good to go!  She told me “Mommy, its pretend!”

Poor Melanie! Bummer. That was really sweet of the kid to show her it was a mask. I wish more big kids were that sensitive. I hope she's feeling better. Very cute picture in the tub, too!
