Dearest Family & Friends,
Whew! I finally made it here, to my computer, with the sole intent to write you this Christmas Letter. I don’t like admitting this, but we are BUSY. My shopping is not done and you may not get this letter before Christmas and I promised myself to take time to relax, do less and enjoy more. BUT such is the life of me, a daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend, employee and now property manager, room mother and Sunday School teacher (I am sure I forgot a few roles!!). I keep reminding myself that even though each of these roles brings responsibilities a great many blessings come from them as well and who would I be anyway if it were not for these roles.
As those of you who manage to keep up with us on Facebook or our blog: www.haughtfamilychronicles.blogspot.com already know, our big news for this year is that we moved last month to the far East…side of Bakersfield! It is way out there in the foothills but we love it. So please make a note of our new address and phone number: 13515 Tuscany Villas Drive, Bakersfield, CA 93306 (661) 742-1155. We are excited to create new memories here, yet I am impatiently waiting for these walls to feel like HOME! There is a sense of belonging and comfort that only home can bring and these walls just aren’t doing it for me yet – but it could just be that way because I have yet to hang any pictures on the walls. I can’t bring myself to put a hole in that new drywall! Funny, huh…I never gave it a second thought in our 1930’s bungalow! Plus, our old house only being 1100 sq. feet, we were bursting at the seams and here, well - it looks like we hardly live here at all! Melanie has adjusted to move very well. She picked the bedroom furthest from the master to be her very own! I know – we are in for it!
Melanie started a new preschool this fall and is attending all day. It was a big adjustment for Jason and I and an even BIGGER adjustment for Grandma, but Melanie loves it. I would have to say that music class is her favorite, PE, not so much! She is still singing the sweetest of songs. Songs of a Big God, Fat Turkeys, Sleeping Indians, The Day the Lord has Made, Rubber Duckies and you name it – she will sing it or make a song up to cause you to chuckle or scratch your head in wonder. She had her first dance recital last week – no performance anxiety for her – bright lights, auditorium full of people, front row, No problem!
So, as I sit here I see a theme appearing throughout this year, change. Changes can be difficult, but cause us to stretch, bend and accomplish more than we ever thought we could But, the ONE thing that I am so thankful that never changes is the Love our God, Jesus Christ has for each of us! As Melanie sang the other night at dinner, “My God is So BIG, So STRONG and So MIGHTY, There is NOTHING MY GOD CANNOT DO!” His love for us is big, strong, mighty, never changes and always amazes me. Ask God to let His Love fill your heart and you will be amazed! But it does require us to change our focus and invite Him in! It may seem hard but once you do, you will have wished you had asked sooner!
I hope this letter finds you on the downhill side of change and that no matter how difficult the change was, is or will be somewhere deep in the middle of it all there is a sunny spot where you have overcome, accomplished, grew or just plain enjoyed! Merry Christmas, Everyone! I love you and hope your Christmas and New Year are full of God’s love!
Love,
Brenda for the Haught Family
