I often find myself feeling as though I haven’t been enough, done enough, served enough for my husband, family, friends, church and work. Why would I feel this way? My days are VERY full – my bathtub is overflowing, yet I feel drained (neat little devotional for Mom’s by the way)! The world we live in has a way of making us feel as though we aren’t enough.
I have discovered this is non-sense! I was reminded this past weekend at Hume Lake Women’s Retreat (if you haven’t ever gone, you must make it a priority to do so!) that my soul was created to glorify God and to do so I must love! Love in the ways Christ taught us to love. That is it – just LOVE! No to do lists, no feeling guilty, no anxiety, no fear, no insecurity – just peace in knowing that I am loving those who God put in my sphere of influence. Love, can take on many forms but mostly I believe that it comes naturally through contentment, peace, hope and an open heart that is able to respond to what God has impressed upon your heart, by communicating with Him. I know, this is easier said that done! But, I am going to make it a point daily to take my cares to the feet of Jesus and rest in his garden so I can be replenished in His truths and able to determine where I need to be LOVING at the moment. I want to fill my heart with these truths, so Satan’s distractions of guilt, fear, insecurity, anxiety won’t consume my heart, mind and soul and keep me from being free enough to LOVE!
If you want to listen to the speaker from retreat, Grace Cabalka’s talks are free podcasts at Hume Lake Christian Camps website. She is wonderful and just happens to be from Bakersfield, too! She is also doing a 30-day challenge of rest in the Lord and you can find her blog on my list to the right.
Just a photo of the great women, I shared a dorm and this experience with at retreat!
