Good Times…

I think I have discovered my favorite time to visit the beach and actually enjoy the sun, sand and surf!  January is a great month if the weather is nice and we have been experiencing some incredible weather in Southern California.  It has been in the 70’s and 80’s which is a far cry from our foggy 50 degree days. 

Our friend Dennis, is so generous to offer up his beach house to us for the weekend.  It is right on the beach in Carpinteria, CA.  So, how could we pass it up.  It was so nice to be there soaking up the warm sunshine, building sandcastles, flying kites, relaxing with each other and wearing Melanie out so, she would go to bed early and we could enjoy each other’s company snuggled up on the sofa by the fire!  Melanie thinks the beach is a wonderful place because of the following two reasons:

1. “No Naps” – little did she know this was part of a bigger plan to tire her out .

2. “I get to stay up late” – we got her again – because she didn’t take a nap, she fell asleep at 7pm, but it was dark out so how could she really know the difference!

I hope she also enjoyed the fact that we just spent time with her and no one else and ate ice cream for dinner.  She just discovered Cookies and Cream ice cream and thinks it is absolutely the greatest thing, but don’t call it that because she will tell you its Vanilla ice cream with Oreos! 

I was also really blessed to have the opportunity to answer the following question:  “Mommy, when will the waves stop?”  Oh my dear, God put them in motion when he created the heavens and the earth and God is the only one who can make them stop, so for now the waves will keep coming until God commands!   It made me think about what will the ocean look like in the New Jerusalem, will there be an ocean, hmmmm I wonder?
