Melanie has been looking forward to meeting Dora all week long and finally Sunday came. I took her to hockey and she kept asking me, Momma, where's Dora? Then she finally saw her...up in the stands and across the ice. Before I was a mother, I said to myself, "My child is not ever going to be attached to a fictional character, no way, no how, NEVER!" Well, never say never and I will eat my words, because Melanie loves Dora. When she saw her, her eyes brightened and sparkled, a smile was plastered ear to ear on her face and she kept waving to her and when Dora waved back, it was like Melanie and Dora were the only people in the room. It was great to see the adoration and admiration in her eyes. Lord, I hope the writers of Dora, keep it innocent and appropriate for small children. What a responsibility we all have to keep that in check.
Anyways, I digress. We stood in line and got some extra one on one attention from Dora. It was perfect. I was prepared though for the Santa scene to replicate itself, but it didn't. She didn't run or turn away, it was high fives, and hugs and a couple wonderful photographs.
She was so amazed that Boots, Map and Backpack were with Dora too. I just loved seeing her face to happy and amazed! I certainly hope I can see that face again someday!
