March 3rd, a date that came and went, almost unnoticed

March 3rd came and went just like another ordinary day for Jason and I. It came and went unnoticed and unremembered until Jason reminded me at dinner on March 4th. Amazing. I thought that I would never forget that day for as long as I lived. (For those of you who don't remember, March 3, 2003 was when Jason was diagnosed with brain cancer and underwent his first of two surgeries that evening). It took 6 years for this day to come. Even though, the date doesn't automatically register, the experience and blessings that came from it will never be forgotten. Cancer changes people, emotionally, some for the better, others not. I am grateful that for us, it was for the better. Had it not been for cancer, Jason and I may not recognize Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

Oh, Lord how grateful I am that you are the great and mighty physician and that you are our great providor and sustainer. I am thankful that you can use a crisis to draw your children back to you. Lord, we are so thankful. Words can not express my gratitude. Lord, you provided so many wonderful things for us, during that time. Family and friends rallied around us for support, you gave us courage and strength to fight and perservere. You provided doctors, nurses and treatments for Jason that cured him. You protected him so we could, in time, have a baby and become a family. Lord, I will never forget your blessings and provisions, but I am thankful that March 3rd can come and go like any ordinary day. Amen.
