Dressing Up, Princess Melanie

I wanted to take photos of Melanie in her princess costumes before she grew up and didn’t want to play dress up anymore.  So, a couple weeks ago, I asked a friend if she would take photos of Melanie in the almond orchards as they are in bloom.  Well, my friend was all booked up with other photo shoots, so I grabbed Jason’s camera and decided to try and take the photos myself.  Over the years, I have learned that it is hard to photograph your own children.  They almost always “perform” better for someone else.  Someone who they aren’t as comfortable with.  But, I don’t think we did too bad, do you?

Princess Melanie

She has always loved to dress up  and as she is now getting older, I am noticing that she isn’t dressing up as much as she used to.  Now she is playing with her dolls a lot more.  She used to dress up as one of many princesses and prepare and serve meals for us from her kitchen.  But now we find her rocking babies to sleep and dressing and undressing them.  There is almost always a baby sleeping her room, in which you hadn’t better talk to loudly or you will wake them up!

I want to treasure and honor this innocence and sincerity as long as we possibly can.
